Jewish life is far bigger than any classroom. It unfolds in family recipes, arts and culture, caring for the vulnerable, community celebrations, and praying with our families. Through J-Lectives, 7th grade students experience Jewish education beyond the classroom in fun and meaningful ways with friends and family. Through on and off-campus initiatives, J-Lectives aim to supplement material learned in class, while creating Jewish memories with friends and family.
J-Lectives for seventh grade students complement their curricular units: Clal Yisrael (Responsibility to the Jewish People) and Tikkun Olam (Caring for our Community and World). Students participate in one J-Lective from each curricular unit, including a Field trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage or a volunteer experience with organizations such as the Schaffer Extended Care Center or DOROT’s Winter Package Delivery.
